Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship
Rowell Brokaw is seeking an intern for winter 2025 to assist with the firm’s response to the AIA 2030 Commitment. This internship is made possible by a grant from Energy Trust of Oregon and is part of their Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship program. This internship will be a paid, part-time position ($18/hour, 15 hours per week) that will take place in-person at our downtown office in Eugene from early January through early April 2025.
The Energy Trust of Oregon Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship program was formed to help architecture and engineering firms gain insights into the energy performance and carbon emissions of their buildings, to enable firms to establish a data collection + reporting system, and to promote career development for emerging professionals. Every year, Energy Trust of Oregon provides grant money to firms throughout the state to support these internship positions.
As a recent signatory to the AIA 2030 Commitment, Rowell Brokaw is working to develop means and methods for tracking energy and carbon in our projects and to report this data to the AIA through its DDx system. The intern will study the AIA 2030 Commitment reporting requirements, prepare a process guideline for use in reporting the firm’s projects, test the reporting process for RBA’s 2024 projects, and present the results of their work to the office. At the end of the internship, the intern will also give a presentation to their full Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship cohort and Energy Trust of Oregon staff.
We encourage architecture, interiors, and landscape students as well as emerging professionals of all levels of skill and experience to apply. No prerequisite skills or prior work experience are required for this position, but familiarity with Revit and energy modeling software is desirable.
