Update on North Eugene High School

North Eugene High School. Where will it be? The new high school will be built on the west end of the property, where the high school baseball field and former Silver Lea Elementary building are located. When will it finish? This will be the second school completed, in 2023. Construction starts this year.

Amazon Corner wins BEST Award

Opened last November, Amazon Corner is a five-story, mixed-use, bicycle-friendly development on Hilyard Street in Eugene. It won the award for achievement designing or building complete neighborhoods where many basic services are within walking distance.

Dan Herbert 1927-2019

Dan Herbert passed away. Dan was a teacher of mine and treasured colleague. After I completed a challenging studio with him, while a grad student at UO, we both eventually found ourselves on the same Urban Renewal Committee as advisors to City of Eugene staff. Dan was amazingly curious and always making connections between things that I think most people didn’t take the time to notice. Dan will be missed by me and many others that he influenced so profoundly over his long career. - GB

Marathon Madness at Crescent Village this past weekend

RB's Frank Visconti, who lives in Crescent Village, snapped this photo from his balcony on Saturday at the start of the second annual Pacific Northwest Marathon. Starting and finishing at Crescent Village, the Pacific Northwest Marathon is one of the flattest marathons in Oregon. Race organizers say it's a good race for beginners and a chance to help runners qualify for the Boston Marathon. In 2015, more than 10% of the marathon finishers qualified for Boston.

MCC hosts pre-bid Open House for Eugene City Hall
